Studio One: Self Care
Dancing on Behalf of Self-Care for Caregivers
When we “dance on behalf of” something as we do in InterPlay, we honor it. We hope and pray for its well-being and we come to the theme with all the resources of our body, mind, and spirit.
- Do you find yourself feeling consumed with fulfilling the needs of others?
- Do you need support and encouragement to put yourself on your own ‘to do’ list?
- Do you have a desire to simplify and deepen your life?
The most damaging stress is the relentless, never letting up kind. In order to be of any value to anyone else, we need to give ourselves permission to take short breaks to pattern interrupt that intensity. Taking care of ourselves begins with our bodies, our physical selves.
To aid you in this endeavor in this studio you will find a story, a dance, a song, a meditation, a description of my book, “The Dance of Selfcaring, Selfhealing,” and a workshop.
A number of years ago, when I was in the process of writing a book about our most important responsibility, that of taking care of ourselves, I visited an art gallery in Texas. My best friend Rose had been there ahead of me, and she was most enthusiastic about the limited edition etchings of an Austin artist, Valerie Kneeland.
