Stillpoint: A Self Care Playbook for Caregivers
Being a caregiver is a hazardous occupation, whether itâs a chosen helping profession, or a family responsibility thatâs chosen you. 43.5 million American adults, (17% of the workforce) are caring for another ill or disabled adult and these caregivers are at risk for more serious health problems in comparison with people who donât have such responsibilities. Research continues to document the frequency of âburnoutâ and âcompassion fatigueâ for persons in the helping professions while self care continues to be all but neglected in the professional programs that train them.
Stillpoint is a comprehensive guide offering caregivers permission to become attuned to their own needs while caring for others. The artistic approach of these two dancing social workers offers the reader numerous ways to pay attention to the somatic self â the body as perceived from the inside. Stillpoint offers stories, whimsical songs, poems, quizzes, meditations and affirmations to aid professional and family caregivers alike in unlearning self-defeating habits and changing mindsets. The aim is for those caring and serving others to include themselves in their wholehearted caring. Tools for self-healing are also offered along with resources and sample rituals to transform both careers and caregivers.
HOW TO
Work with Me
CONSULTING
I help organizations with students, clients and employees learn the skill of grieving well based on my own experience, as a social worker and having helped many people find the gift hiding behind their grief. This work begins with a single conversation.
CARE-GIVING ONLINE GROUP
I host a LIVE, and weekly, online self-care group for caregivers to support the amazing individuals working with loss daily. Here you gain access to me, my principles and exercises to take care of yourself, while caring for others.
SPECIAL EVENT SPEAKER
I customize every presentation, tapping into my experience as an improv artist, author and grief consultant. For group sizes of 25-10,000, I bring powerful topics to life whether itâs for an hour, half-day, full-day or multi-day experiences. Ask me for details!
WORKSHOPS
When organizations deal with loss, I develop workshops after interviewing representatives from the organization to insure the experience will be relevant to their members and the goals of the organization. I guarantee a lively, thought-provoking and transformational workshop.
